How do I dispose of my bamboo toothbrush?

To ensure eco-friendly disposal, please follow these steps:

  1. Remove Bristles: Use pliers to remove the Nylon-4 bristles from the bamboo handle if composting.
  2. Compost the Handle: The bamboo handle can be composted in your home compost bin or a municipal composting facility. Breaking the handle into smaller pieces accelerates the decomposition process.
  3. Recycle or Industrial Compost Bristles: Please check with your local recycling program if they accept Nylon-4. If so, please recycle. If they do not, please dispose of them in your regular garbage bin.

Decomposition Time

Bamboo Handle:

  • Home Composting: Typically decomposes within 6 to 12 months
  • Industrial Composting: Can decompose in about 4 to 6 months.
  • Natural Environment: Decomposition can take between 6 months and 3 years, depending on environmental conditions.
  • Landfills: Decomposition in a landfill can be significantly slower and can take several years.

Note: The above times can vary based on local environmental conditions. We recommend composting the bamboo handle to minimize environmental impact.

What Are Your Toothbrush Bristles Made From?
  • We only use Nylon-4 for our toothbrush bristles and floss threads. Nylon-4 is a type of nylon made of biodegradable polymers. We use Nylon-4 because it's strong and durable, making it great for cleaning teeth.
  • We're currently in the process of ASTM 6400 testing for our Nylon-4
  • *Our Nylon-4 has not been ASTM 6400 tested, and therefore, we cannot make direct claims of compostability/biodegradability of the bristles used. However, Nylon-4 is a type of nylon made from polymers that have been shown in third-party studies to biodegrade in industrial settings.
